Today we took our copies we received at the marriage registration office to the Luzheng Notary Public Office today. We needed to show the original marriage certificates and give the copies to one of the workers in order to get paperwork that will allow me to be registered on D’s Hukou (Family Register).
For a long time D and I have been planning on tying the knot. I think we have actually talked about it since last summer and originally planned on last autumn, but then it got pushed to winter, and then spring, and then well the other day it actually happened.
It is always useful to know where the closest embassy or consulate general of your country is. Being a U.S. citizen I am lucky that we have an embassy in Beijing and several consulate generals in other cities across China. Luckily for me there happens to be one in Chengdu and it is fairly easy to get to.
