Teacher’s Day (스승의 날) 2014
Today is Teacher’s day!
I almost forgot that it was teacher’s day until I received a kakao message this morning from a former student of mine. It was one of the best things to start the day too. I translated the message as I wanted to share it with everyone back home and for those who don’t understand enough Korean yet.
The translated text of the main message.
Happy Teacher’s Day!!
Hello, Nina teacher! It’s Seol! It’s a been a very very long time ㅠㅠ It’s already Teacher’s day. I’m not sure why but I thought of you, teacher. haha. It was the first time for me to become close to a native teacher and it was the first time for me to experience many things together with you. That time when I went to Teacher’s house was really fun!! I still remember the coconut cake and spaghetti!! However, it seems like I was not able to do as much for you teacher so I am very sorry. ㅠㅠ Normally, on Teacher’s day you go see your teacher and talk face to face, however, I can’t do that since you are far away which is a shame. Though it seems like when I was with teacher my English ability grew a little! When you talked about your hometown during class time it was fun. haha. If there is an opportunity I hope to see you again. ㅠㅠ It would be great if I can see you soon again, and happy teacher’s day! Normally, we are supposed to go and give a carnation, but because you are far away I can’t give it to you which is too bad! ㅠㅠ Also, if I had written a letter it would have been nice, but I didn’t have you address so I messaged like this through kakaotalk. Also lastly, teacher’s number seems to have disappeared. ㅠㅠ Do you think you could give your number to me? ㅠㅠ This really the very last thing I miss you, teacher. ㅠㅠ
I didn’t translate the rest of it as it was just a little back and forth and this was the important part.
I received about 10 cards from 6th grades about 7 of them were from boys. They were very cute about it and I gave everyone a hug. I also received some homemade bread which I ate before I took a picture.
One of my cute third graders gave me a gift she prepared herself and it is an amazing smelling soy candle! I’m super excited to burn it.
I hope all of the other teacher’s had a great Teacher’s day as well!
